THE SUSSEX HARMONISERS (MALE BARBERSHOP CHORUS) IN CONCERT.......Saturday 6th August

“Come on and listen to the Band”. We sing these words in “Alexander's Ragtime Band”
but there is no Band! Instead we sing unaccompanied in four-part harmony.
Barbershop is shaking off its traditional image and reaching out
to a whole new audience. We feature traditional barbershop songs, classic
numbers sung in a close-harmony way and some songs for audience participation.
Earlier this year we made our debut on the London stage as part
of the Brandenburg Spring Choral Festival. In May we appeared for two nights
at the Brighton Fringe and at the end of that month we had our best ever result
in the national Barbershop Convention at Llandudno, being placed 12th out of 33
choruses. Under the leadership of new Musical Director Zoë Peate and Chorus
Director David Ellwood, this will be our first appearance in Lewes.
